Seed Character is ByteDance Volcengine's conversational model purpose-built for role-play and character-driven dialogue, emphasizing stable persona adherence across extended immersive scenarios. Positioned inside the broader Doubao Seed family, it is designed to keep a chosen character voice, backstory, and mannerisms consistent over long, multi-turn exchanges, making it a natural fit for interactive storytelling, virtual companions, and scripted agent personas where breaking character is a primary failure mode. The model also accepts visual and moving-image inputs alongside text, so prompts can include reference images or short video clips to ground the persona's responses in a richer context.

Beyond dialogue, the model combines reasoning with function calling, prompt caching, and web search support, letting a character agent pause to think, invoke external tools, retrieve fresh information, and reuse prior conversation efficiently.
