Nova 2 Lite

Nova 2 Lite sits within Amazon's newly expanded Nova 2 family, introduced alongside Nova Forge, an "open training" service for building custom Nova variants, and Nova Act, a tool aimed at browser-based agent automation. Amazon positioned the Nova 2 generation as delivering balanced price-performance across reasoning, multimodal processing, conversational AI, code generation, and agentic tasks, framing Nova 2 Lite specifically as the everyday production option that pairs reasoning with a generous context window. It is exposed through the Vercel AI Gateway under the model identifier amazon/nova-2-lite, letting developers stream completions alongside other frontier providers through a unified interface.

In practical terms, Nova 2 Lite handles text, image, and PDF inputs, returns text outputs, and exposes configurable extended thinking, web grounding, and code execution as first-class features. The model reads attached files and uses them as context for grounded answers, making it well suited to retrieval-augmented assistants, document Q&A, and lightweight agent loops that need to call external tools or run small scripts. For teams already routing traffic through Vercel AI Gateway, it offers a multimodal reasoning option aimed at routine, high-volume workloads where cost efficiency matters more than top-end reasoning depth.
