Seed 2.1 Turbo is ByteDance's faster, lower-cost variant within the Seed 2.1 family of large language models, introduced alongside the higher-capability Seed 2.1 Pro at the 2026 Volcano Engine FORCE conference. The model is positioned for high-frequency enterprise scenarios, particularly those involving tool use, multi-step workflows, and reasoning over text, images, and interface state. ByteDance frames the broader family as improvements over its previous generation in code generation, long-chain agent task execution, and multimodal understanding, giving the Turbo variant the same agent-oriented tuning in a lighter package aimed at volume-driven deployment through Volcano Engine and Volcano Ark.
Independent evaluation in the Midscene AppControlBench benchmark gives a concrete picture of Turbo's agent strengths: across 60 real iOS simulator tasks for vision-driven UI automation, the model reached a Pass@1 rate of 96.67 percent (58 pass, 1 partial, 1 fail), an average completion time around 52 seconds per run, and a cost of roughly $0.0099 or ¥0.0670 per run using Volcengine's official pricing of ¥3 per million input tokens, ¥0.6 per million cached input tokens, and ¥15 per million output tokens. These results place it ahead of competing vision-capable models tested in the same suite on both pass rate and completion speed, supporting its fit for production agent stacks where consistent task completion and throughput matter more than peak reasoning depth.
