Devstral 2 (latest)

Devstral the listed price represents a deliberate shift toward specialized AI for software engineering, positioned by its creators as a frontier code agents model built to solve real-world development challenges. Rather than serving as a general-purpose assistant, this model is engineered around the complexities of modern software work: exploring large codebases, understanding cross-file dependencies, and executing multi-step editing tasks. Its architecture decision to emphasize tool use and codebase navigation signals that it's designed to function as an active participant in development workflows, not merely a passive code generator.

With 123 billion parameters and open-weight availability, Devstral the listed price invites deeper inspection of its capabilities by developers and researchers who want to run, fine-tune, or study its behavior locally. The extensive context window enables it to reason across substantial portions of a project simultaneously, which matters when troubleshooting systemic bugs or implementing features that span multiple modules. The model's compatibility with agent frameworks like Claude Code and OpenClaw demonstrates its practical fit for automated coding tasks, positioning it as a foundation for building autonomous software engineering systems that can take direction from a human and execute code-level actions independently.
