Seed 2.0 Mini

Seed 2.0 Mini is the compact member of the ByteDance Seed 2.0 family, a multimodal foundation line launched in mid-February 2026 to power products such as Doubao for hundreds of millions of users. Within that three-tier lineup, Mini is positioned as the lightweight pioneer, optimized for high concurrency and fast responses rather than the flagship reasoning depth of the Pro tier or the balanced profile of the Lite tier. The model is distributed through aggregator gateways, including OpenRouter under provider ByteDance Seed, giving developers a turnkey path to integration without managing native endpoints.

In practice, Seed 2.0 Mini is suited to chat assistants, retrieval-augmented workflows, and other high-throughput services that benefit from multimodal understanding without paying for top-tier reasoning. The OpenRouter integration exposes a broad parameter surface covering reasoning effort, structured outputs, tool use, and sampling controls, which makes the model flexible for production pipelines that need to tune latency against answer quality. For teams already invested in ByteDance's ecosystem, Mini offers a cost-aware entry point that retains the family's general multimodal capabilities while emphasizing speed and scale.
