GLM-5.3 is Z.ai's coding-focused model that reuses the 743-billion-parameter Mixture-of-Experts base introduced with GLM-5.2, applying extended post-training rather than a fresh pre-train. The post-training stack centers on Z.ai's IndexShare approach for long context, SAO for reinforcement learning over long-horizon tasks, and slime, an open-source framework for large-scale asynchronous RL. This lineage lets GLM-5.3 carry over the architecture and context-handling design of its predecessor while concentrating new gains on agentic coding, automation, and cybersecurity behavior rather than raw language modeling.

The intended use is heavy software engineering work, from multi-step terminal tasks and agent pipelines to vulnerability discovery and broader automation. Reported benchmark gains against GLM-5.2 sit around 50 percent on coding tasks, alongside what Z.ai describes as a sizable jump in cyber capability, with strong vendor-reported numbers on Terminal Bench 3.0, DeepSWE, Agents' Last Exam, AutomationBench, HLE with tools, and GDPVal-AA v2.
