Hy-MT2-7B is Tencent's dedicated machine translation model in the Hy family, designed specifically for high-quality cross-lingual translation rather than general-purpose conversation. The 7B-parameter design reflects a focus on efficiency, making the system approachable for teams that need translation capability without the overhead of much larger multilingual models. It is positioned as a specialized translation engine within the broader Hy lineup, which also includes a smaller 1.8B sibling variant.

The model is built to handle a broad translation surface area, covering 33 mainstream language pairs along with several Chinese dialect and minority-language pairs that are often underserved by general translation systems. A structured delimiter-based workflow guides output formatting, which helps downstream applications parse translations cleanly for pipelines, localization tools, and content systems. With an 8K context window and support for up to 4K output tokens, the model suits document- and paragraph-scale translation tasks where preserving longer source context matters, and its compact parameter count makes it a practical fit for cost-sensitive translation deployments.
