Nano Banana 2

Built on the Gemini 3 family of models, Nano Banana 2 positions image generation as a reasoning task rather than a pure rendering step, letting prompts be interpreted for intent, layout, and world knowledge before pixels are produced. The result is a model tuned for two creator workflows: high-quality image creation from text and precise editing that preserves the parts of a source image that matter. Marketed publicly under the Gemini 3.1 Flash Image identifier, it inherits the broader Gemini stack while focusing tightly on visual output rather than general chat.

In practice, Nano Banana 2 is aimed at designers, marketers, and product teams who need readable typography, photoreal detail, and quick turnaround on iterations such as posters, packaging, UI mockups, and product shots. Google's launch materials highlight stronger realism, improved text rendering, broader world knowledge, and meaningful gains in speed and cost efficiency compared with earlier versions, making iterative editing workflows feel less punishing. Hosted on Vertex AI, it slots cleanly alongside other creative systems like Veo and Lyria for teams building mixed-media pipelines that need consistent reasoning across text and images.
