DeepSeek V3 0324 (Deep Infra)

DeepSeek-V3-0324 arrived in late March 2025 as a notable refinement of the original V3 base model, carrying forward DeepSeek's lineage of large language work while narrowing the gap toward reasoning-oriented systems. The release emphasizes three concrete upgrades: a major boost in reasoning performance, sharper front-end development skills, and more capable tool-use handling. Crucially, DeepSeek positioned this variant as the default for complex tasks and suggested keeping the original V3 (with DeepThink disabled) for non-complex reasoning workloads, signaling an intent to give users a stronger non-thinking mode without sacrificing efficiency on simpler queries.

One of the most consequential shifts with this release was the move to a permissive open-source license: DeepSeek-V3-0324 weights were published on Hugging Face under the MIT License, mirroring the licensing used for DeepSeek-R1. That decision broadened the model's appeal to self-hosters and enterprise teams that need clear terms for redistribution and modification. In practice, V3-0324 is a good fit for developers who want stronger reasoning, code generation, and agent-style tool calling without moving to a full reasoning-first model, making it a balanced middle ground between raw chat performance and deep inference workloads.
