Nova 2 Lite (US)

Amazon Nova 2 Lite sits in Amazon's Nova family as a compact reasoning-focused model aimed at fast, everyday inference workloads where latency and cost matter more than frontier-scale depth. AWS framed the launch around practical, high-volume use cases, positioning the variant as an accessible tier beneath heavier Nova options for teams that still want capable text understanding alongside image, video, and document inputs. The intent is a balanced generalist that can be dropped into agentic pipelines, retrieval and summarization flows, and structured content tasks without the overhead of a larger flagship model, making it a sensible default for product teams building multimodal features on tight budgets.

In practical terms, Nova 2 Lite is best suited to production scenarios that benefit from its reasoning behavior and tool-calling support while keeping per-request economics low. It pairs a generous working window with attachment and temperature controls, so developers can tune determinism for evaluation runs and loosen it for open-ended generation, and the same surface can ingest mixed media for grounded question answering, captioning, and document analysis. The fit is strongest for teams that need a dependable multimodal workhorse for batch processing, customer-facing assistants, and structured extraction rather than cutting-edge research workloads, where Nova 2 Lite's blend of speed, multimodal grounding, and integration-friendly tooling offers the most leverage.
